FG Announces Friday, Monday For Easter Celebrations
The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 7th, and Monday, April 10th, 2023, as public holidays to mark both Good Friday and Easter Monday.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Shuaib Belgore, on Wednesday in Abuja; the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, called on Christians to emulate the values and practices of Jesus Christ, such as sacrifice, togetherness, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience, as demonstrated by His ministry on earth.
He also encouraged Nigerians to pray for an end to the security challenges in certain regions of the country and to support the efforts of all security agencies in ensuring peace and security of lives and property.
“Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry,” he said.
The Minister reassured citizens that the government was taking all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition of power following peaceful elections.
He, however, concluded his statement by wishing all Christians at home and abroad a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration, urging them to show love to their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity.
