…100 days is enough

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele has maintained the Federal Government’s stance on the deadline given for the return of Nigerian old currencies to the bank.

In a question-and-answer segment with newsmen in Abuja, Emefiele apologizes to those who want the deadline of the old notes shifted.

“I must say here that unfortunately, I don’t have good news for those who feel that we should shift the deadline, my apologies.”

“The reason is that just like the President has said on more than two occasions and even to people privately; 90 days ( in fact we feel it’s 100 days) is enough for anyone who has the old currency to deposit it to the banks…”

Mr.Godwin Emefiele, however, stated that the Federal Government has taken all measures to keep commercial banks open till Saturdays to receive the old currencies from the people.

He buttressed that there is absolutely no reason for a shift in the deadline. “100 days is enough”. He said
