Following the assassination of a couple on the first day of New year, family members and sympathizers on Monday, gathered to lay the remains of the couple to rest.
The burial, led by S.K. Oyewale was held at Christ Anglican Church in Iporo-Ake, Abeokuta.
The remains of the couple were taken in separate caskets after the church service to a cemetery in the Lantoro area of Abeokuta, where they were committed to mother earth.
Recall, The Pendulum Media had reported on Sunday, that the couple, Kehinde and Oluwabukola Fatinoye’s were gruesomely murdered on Sunday by suspected assassins who also kidnapped their son and housemaid in addition to setting their bodies on fire.
Kehinde Fatinoye was a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria and his wife, Oluwabukola, a former employee of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Both had returned from a Crossover Church service before they were killed and burnt on New year’s day.
The Police image maker in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the incident was a pure case of assassination, confirming that “when the couple was killed, their remains were set ablaze”.
“After the dastardly act, the couple’s son and their housemaid were kidnapped and thrown into a river. Though the housemaid has been rescued alive, we are yet to see the son”.
While confirming that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident, Oyeyemi assured that the Police would leave no stone unturned in arresting those behind the dastardly act.
