Alli’s Campaign Uncovers Impersonation Scheme, Warns Public
The campaign organisation of Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has warned the public against fraudsters impersonating him and his team to obtain confidential personal and financial information.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the organisation’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, said suspected fraudsters had been contacting individuals by telephone, requesting National Identification Numbers (NINs), bank account details and other sensitive information.
It urged the public to disregard such calls and avoid sharing personal or banking details with unverified callers.
The organisation stressed that neither Alli nor his campaign team had authorised anyone to request NINs, bank details, passwords, PINs, One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or other confidential information.
It warned that disclosing such details could expose victims to identity theft and financial fraud, advising anyone who receives suspicious calls or messages to report them to the relevant security agencies.
The public was also cautioned against transferring money or responding to requests for financial assistance from unverified phone numbers, social media accounts or other unofficial channels claiming links to the campaign.
The organisation said it would cooperate with security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in impersonation and fraud.
It urged residents to verify information through officially recognised communication channels, reaffirming Alli’s commitment to lawful and transparent engagement with the people of Oyo State.
