Amotekun Arrests 14 Suspects Over Kidnapping, Cattle Rustling In Ondo
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 14 suspects over alleged involvement in kidnapping, cattle rustling, theft and vandalism across the state.
Parading the suspects in Akure on Monday, the corps commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the arrests were made through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies.
Adeleye said some of the suspects were allegedly involved in stealing cattle from Fulani herders in parts of Odigbo Local Government Area and selling them through established markets at significantly reduced prices.
Two suspects were also arrested over alleged illegal possession of firearms.
The commander said another suspect allegedly specialised in vandalising buildings under construction, where he stole electrical cables, plumbing materials and other fittings, while others were arrested for allegedly stealing iron rods.
Meanwhile, the corps rescued two farmers who were abducted from their farm in Okeigbo, following a 72-hour operation involving Amotekun and other security agencies.
Adeleye said the male victim was rescued alive, but his wife was found dead after rescuers located the kidnappers deep inside a forest reserve.
He said the operation demonstrated the corps’ determination to deny criminals safe havens in the state, adding that intelligence gathering and joint security operations would continue across Ondo.
