2026 WASSCE Results Released As 61.54% Earn Five Credits
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
The examination body announced the release on Wednesday through its official X account, confirming that candidates can now access their results after generating a Personal Identification Number (PIN) on the council’s website.
According to WAEC, 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat for the examination, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Candidates are required to generate a PIN and serial number via waec.org before checking their results on the WAEC result portal.
The process requires candidates to provide their examination number, National Identification Number (NIN) and contact details for one-time password (OTP) verification.
About 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria participated in the examination, which was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026.
While the majority of candidates wrote the examination using the traditional pen-and-paper format, WAEC noted that significantly more schools adopted the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option compared to previous years.
The council had earlier indicated that the results would be released approximately 45 days after the final examination paper.
The release follows the publication of the results of the 2026 First Series Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates.
