Daddy Showkey: I Returned To The Garage After My Group Broke Up
Veteran Nigerian musician Daddy Showkey has revealed that he returned to life in the garage after the breakup of the Pretty Busy Boys, a decision he says eventually helped him discover his talent as a solo artiste.
Reflecting on his journey to success, the galala music pioneer said he was uncertain about his future after the group split and even considered joining the military before finding his true calling in music.
According to him, success is available to everyone, insisting that God does not single out only a few people to prosper.
“God does not choose who will succeed. You cannot say God has chosen only one person to succeed. God wants to bless everybody,” he said.
Daddy Showkey explained that after abandoning plans to join the army because of the rigorous training, he returned to the garage in Lagos, where his music journey truly began.
“After the Pretty Busy Boys, everybody went solo. Me, I was thinking, what will I do? I went back to the garage. First of all, I wanted to join the army… but the training was too much for me.
“I came back to Lagos and went back to the garage. It was in the garage that I discovered that I have the potential to be a singer.”
