‘Welcome Home’: OYOSUBEB Celebrates Release of Abducted Pupils, Teachers
The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board says the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers has brought relief, joy and renewed hope to families and the education community across the state.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, has welcomed home the teachers and pupils abducted from Oriire Local Government Area, describing their safe return as a moment of great relief, thanksgiving and renewed hope for Oyo State’s education community.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, Adeniran thanked God for preserving the lives of the victims and making their reunion with their families possible after weeks in captivity.
He said the release had brought immense joy to parents, colleagues, classmates, school administrators and all those who stood in prayer and hope throughout the victims’ ordeal.
The OYOSUBEB chairman congratulated teachers, learners, parents and other education stakeholders across the state, saying their collective faith, resilience and unwavering hope had been rewarded with the safe return of the victims.
Adeniran also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde for their commitment and support throughout the efforts that led to the victims’ release.
He further commended security agencies for their professionalism, dedication and sacrifices, describing their courage and patriotism as instrumental to securing the freedom of the abducted teachers and pupils.
The OYOSUBEB chairman also thanked religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, media practitioners and other well-meaning Nigerians for standing by the affected families through prayers, advocacy and encouragement during the difficult period.
While celebrating the victims’ return, Adeniran called for sustained prayers for lasting peace and security across the country.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the government and education stakeholders to ensuring that schools across Oyo State remain safe environments for teaching and learning.
“Once again, welcome home, our beloved teachers and pupils. The entire Oyo State education family is delighted to have you back safely,” he said.
