Airport Cab Drivers Cry Out Over FAAN’s ‘2020 Model’ Directive

Airport taxi operators have appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians to intervene over a directive by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) requiring them to operate only 2020 model vehicles and above.
The drivers, who protested in a viral video shared on X, said complying with the policy was beyond their financial capacity, claiming that the approved vehicles cost about N18 million and above.
Speaking in Yoruba, some of the protesters described the directive as unrealistic given the current economic situation, urging the authorities to reconsider the policy.
“This is what we are facing. Nigerians should help us intervene. They said we should go and buy vehicles from 2020 or above. Vehicles that cost N18 million and above, with the way Nigeria is now,” one of the drivers said.
The drivers also alleged that FAAN plans to introduce an app for airport taxi operations and appealed to the agency to draw President Tinubu’s attention to their concerns.
“There is no job in the country with what we are going through. Pity us Nigerians. Let this go viral. Nigerians, help us. Intervene,” another driver pleaded.
The Pendulum Media has not independently verified the claims made in the video, and FAAN had not responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
