Kebbi Govt Debunks Rewarding Political Thugs With Appointments

The Kebbi State Government has denied claims of its administration granting political appointment and contracts to thugs as rewards

This claim was dismissed by the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, Abdullahi Idris during a live interview on TVC News.

Correcting the allegations, he asserts Governor Idris ensures strict vetting process is carried out before making appointments or awarding contracts to credible and qualified individuals.

He said, “Never, forever. The governor doesn’t give an appointment just like that for political reasons,”

“When the governor wants to give you an appointment, he consults your local government or emirate to check your credibility, sincerity, and honesty..

The governor’s aide also stressed that Kebbi State’s traditional and religious leaders are always involved in vetting potential appointees.

“How can a district head, a traditional ruler, or a religious leader recommend a political thug for employment in the government?” he asked.

He maintained that the administration does not empower or encourage violence in any form adding that the government’s priority is to maintain peace and attract investment to create jobs and improve living standards for the people of Kebbi State.

“All these words are mere and cheap allegations. The governor’s focus is on building the state, creating opportunities, and ensuring good governance, not rewarding violence.”
