Akon’s Wife, Tomeka Files For Divorce From Singer Over Irreconcilable Differences
Tomeka Thiam, wife to American singer and Kovict label boss, Akon has filed for a divorce, reports say.
Tomeka who has been married for almost 30 years to the singer, 51 seeks to end her marriage in a court documents in Fulton County, Georgia, on September 11, 2025.
The wife, in her petition stated the following:
That they both be granted joint legal custody of their daughter.
That the court should grant her primary physical custody, with visitation rights for Akon.
That spousal support should be granted her only and denied for the singer.
The divorce filing came as Akon, 51, continues to publicly defend his views on polygamy, a practice he associates with his cultural heritage.
Out of Akon’s nine other children, Tomeka shares one daughter with him and the couple would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary next month.
Neither Akon nor Tomeka has publicly commented since the divorce filing.
