Hardship: Police Save Man From Self Electrocution In Anambra

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have swiftly rescued a 28-year-old man from committing suicide through a power transmission high tensionin Awada area of the state.

The near tragic incident which happened last Tuesday according to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga was hijacked by some concerned members of the public who alerted the Force.

Ikenga explained that a distress call from a concerned member of the public stated that a certain man identified as Mr. Okwudili David Onyiba, had climbed a power transmission high tension with the aim to end his own life.

The PRO noted that the police team rushed to the scene situated behind the Grace of God Mission, off NEPA Road in Awada where it took several minutes to persuade the victim before he eventually descended from the dangerous infrastructure.

The victim had been taken into protective custody at the police station, where he was made to undergo proper medical and mental health evaluation Ikenga added.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, however, advised anyone experiencing hardship to open up to relations, friends and relevant institutions for justice instead of embarking on a mission to commit suicide.

“The Command appeals to members of the public to always seek lawful and peaceful solutions to personal challenges, and to reach out to family, friends, or relevant support groups in times of distress”Orutugu said.
