Asisat Oshoala, a Super Falcons striker who was crowned the ‘Player of the Year’ on Thursday at the CAF awards to make it her 5th time, noted that the night was unprecedented for her.
Upon the recipient of the award, the Barcelona Femeni striker exclaimed in front of the CAF Awards audience at Rabat, Morocco : “…I got 5 today- FIVE!”
The event, which had eminent sports personalities and dignitaries, saw some snippets of the nominees of each category and how the winners emerged.
Oshoala in her speech dedicated the award to her teammates who stood tall till the end of the match.
She said, “I am going to delicate this award to the Nigerian women national team. This is for you all because you showed Africa what a strong heart is and not backing down even when you were two man down, you kept on going.”
Recall that the Super falcons lost to the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco as they play 9 against 11 which ended in 5-4 penalty shoot.’

The event was also spiced with the performances from artistes such as Davido, Tiwa Salvage, Magic System and Asmar Lamnawa.
The ceremony came ahead of the finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
