Withheld Results Won’t Be Released- JAMB Replies X User
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday has revealed it will not release withheld 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
According to JAMB, candidates whose results are withheld may be guilty of “examination infractions”.
This is as an X user, Shehu Abdulrahman Adeiza on May 2, 2024 forwarded a query to the Board about his friends’ UTME results which were held and placed under investigation.
He wrote: “Good morning. My friends wrote JAMB this year but they checked their results.
“One was withheld and the other was under investigation. Please what is the cause of this and is there any solution to this…What can they do???”
Replying Adeiza, JAMB expressed that “Perhaps there are enough evidence against them that they were involved in examination infractions.
“Please be aware that the withheld result won’t be released, however, the one under investigation might be, if not found guilty thereafter.”
Recall that the examination body on Monday, April 29 released the 2024 UTME results revealing a poor performance of candidates nationwide with just 8401 candidates out of 1, 904, 189 who sat for the examination scoring 300 and above.
The Jamb Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede stated, “Out of the 1,842,464 released results, a paltry 0.4% scored above 300 while 24% scored 50% (200/400) and above,”.
He also said 1,1,402,490, which is 76 per cent of the candidates got below 200.
Oloyede, while announcing the release of the results, disclosed that 64,624 results were under investigation for various reasons such as verification (2,896), procedural investigations (4,594), and prima facie established exam misconduct (78).
The examination body, on Wednesday, May 1, said the 2024 UTME results are yet to be available on its website and in any paper format.
