‘Why Rivers Dey Groom Judas?’ Twitter User Reacts to Wike’s Appointment as Minister

A Twitter user identified as @FirstObidient has reacted to the nomination of former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike for a ministerial position hinting, he is a betrayal.
On Monday, former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike was confirmed as minister by the Senate.
Wike, who had previously declared
that he would never take up a ministerial position prior to the 2023 general election on Monday said his reason for accepting the offer is nothing else but his passion for the country. He said,“I accepted the offer to serve as a minister because of my passion to serve Nigeria.”
His acceptance has now stirred reactions from netizens with many tagging him as a betrayal.
@FirstObidient said, “Amaechi was used against Goodluck Jonathan and was made Minister by Buhari. Wike was also used against Peter Obi and has been nominated for a ministerial position under Tinubu, why Rivers dey groom Judas?”
However, an APC chieftain, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe on Channels Television explained that his nomination as minister was “compensation” for his role in Tinubu’s victory at the 2023 presidential election.
Ogunlewe said: “It is so easy to decipher. If you are following the development that cumulated in the last election, you would know the role Wike played and you must give him compensation for that role.”
Recall that Wike formed the G-5 Integrity Group, alongside four other then-state governors which worked against the PDP during the presidential election.

@Olajide Idowu, “Ofcourse na; agreement is agreement. I guess compensation is preferred over competency and capability, though they all start with letter “C”. I hope it won’t end in another letter “C” starting (pocket friendly) which is common among many public office holders.
@Obinna, “Same way he was compensated with River State and he did wonders.”
In the light of this, another tweep called for the deregistration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from INEC, since according to the tweep, the party has lost its relevance.
@mrlurvy wrote, “Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi have been included in the Bayelsa campaign council list of the PDP. Something is fundamentally wrong with everybody at Wadata Plaza. And I am happy it is happening.
The PDP has lost its relevance. It has no ideals, discipline or foresight any more. I strongly advise that the party be deregistered by INEC.”
