U.K Issues New Travel Advisory, Declares Some Nigerian States Insecure

The UK government has updated its travel advisory, indicating that Abuja is now relatively safe, but requires only essential travel.
A statement by the British High Commission in Abuja says the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its Travel Advice for the Federal Capital Territory, from Amber advice against all but essential travel to green.
It urges British nationals in the country to seek more information about the FCO’s travel advice for Nigeria, including the Travel Advice for the FCT before embarking on such movements.
The statement explains that there continue to be several states in Nigeria where the UK advise British Nationals against all but essential travel.
They include; Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, Abia, Plateau, and Taraba, within 20km of the border,r with Niger in Kebbi State advises-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers States.
It also advises against all travel to Borno State, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and the riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River State.
The UK keeps its travel advice under regular review and in making these assessments uses information from a wide range of sources.
The travel advice is constantly reviewed to make sure it reflects the current situation in Abuja and Nigeria.
