Two Delta Youths Feared Dead After Lightning Struck
The Issele-Azagba community of Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State has recorded the death of two youths after a lightning struck.
The tragic occurrence happened while 13 youths were said to be playing football at Osemeke Primary School field in the community.
As a result of the torrential rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, 12 footballers and their referee were struck killing two of them instantly.
It was also gathered that a Point of Sale, POS, operator in the community is among the youths and also one of the survivors of the lightning strike, simply identified as Sunday, is said to be in critical condition in a hospital in Asaba.
However, reacting to the incident, the state police spokesman, Mr. Bright Edafe, considered the occurrence as a rumour because according to him, the case was not reported to any of their divisions.
“we heard the rumour but it was not reported in any of our divisions.” He said.
