Travelling? Pack Items Yourselves to Avoid Implications- NDLEA Warns Nigerians

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has urged Nigerians to be careful of the packages they receive and travel with in order not to be implicated.

This was disclosed in a statement by NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi on Sunday.

NDLEA reports that recently some contrabands such as drugs concealed in food items were intercepted by the agency as they were being shipped to South Africa and Kenya.

The agency, however, warned travelling Nigerians of packages emphasising that food packages sent to them or through them are always deceptive.

It read, “Operatives of the NDLEA had intercepted various quantities of ephedrine, skunk and nitrous oxide, popularly known as laughing gas concealed in Semovita packs and dry pepper being shipped to South Africa and Kenya through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos

“The parcel of a packaged food item isn’t always what you think it is. Again, we insist, don’t accept any item not packed by you when travelling. Save yourself the ordeal.”

It added that the narcotics were being shipped by some drug peddlers of Transnational Drug Trafficking Organisations.

The agency also disclosed that some of the drug peddlers were promptly arrested, their mansions raided and their luxury vehicles seized.
