A bus conveying 3 youths coming from Bond Chemicals junction, at Awe in Oyo, has knocked down a man on Saturday.
The victim was reported to have stood by his car parked by the roadside when an incoming bus pinned him to his car and dragged him at a distance before leaving him in a drainage.
According to The Pendulum media correspondent, Abd’ Rahman Afolabi who was at the scene said the man stood by his car, observing something when he was suddenly knocked off.
He gathered that the man came for a burial ceremony which was to take place in a nearby church when the tragic incident happened.
Angry mobs were said to almost burned down the bus until the situation was doused and the youthful driver took responsibility. The victim’s legs were completely damaged and people prayed that he survives the incident as he had lost a lot of blood.
Our correspondent added that the driver, when interrogated by the people declared he was briefly distracted as he attempted to pick up a bean cake that had fallen off his hand behind the wheel when the unfortunate happened.
The victim was immediately rushed to General hospital in Oyo. In the process, the corpse whose burial the victim came for at that point had arrived at the scene on the way to the church for the burial ceremony.
It was indeed a double tragedy for the victim and his associates because he was there for a funeral when he was suddenly crushed and dragged to a drainage. The wife of the victim couldn’t believe what just happened and wept uncontrollably.
However, many people admonished one another to stay focused when driving to avoid tragic occurrence like this. Peace has also been restored to the area after the incident.
According to the report gathered, the driver wasn’t on speed.
