Tinubu Presses For Peace, Tolerance In Edo Governorship Election
President Bola Tinubu has appealed to all stakeholders that are involved in Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21 to conduct themselves peacefully and respectfully.
The President’s call is revealed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu appealed to the governorship candidates, political parties, and supporters to respect the democratic process and the people’s will.
Adding that the voters are able to make informed decisions about their future leaders.
He also stressed that democracy thrives on civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for the rules of the game.
Onanuga said, “The President implores the governorship candidates, political parties, and supporters to respect the democratic process and the people’s will.
“He believes in the voters’ ability to make informed decisions about their future leaders.
“President Tinubu emphasises that democracy thrives on civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for the rules of the game.”
According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has committed to conducting a free and fair election and urges all stakeholders to work together to ensure a successful and peaceful process.
While applauding the governorship candidates and political parties for their campaigns, which according to him focused on improving livelihoods, promoting economic growth, and contributing to national development; he urged Edo citizens to remain peaceful and resolve any disagreements amicably through the constituted authorities
