The year 2022 seems to favor some belated graduands of the University of Ibadan as the institution begins a four-day convocation ceremony of 4,926 graduates, along with 805 graduands for higher degrees (MPhil, Masters, Ph.D.) starting today, Monday, 14th November and ends on Thursday, 17th November 2022.
The convocation which ties with the 74th founder’s day anniversary has a record of 229 First class graduands from different faculties in the school.
In a statement released by The Law Press Organization, University of Ibadan, Agboola revealed that the convocation lecture themed “Region, Security, Counter-terrorism and Counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad basin: The role of the multi-national joint task force”
will be delivered by a commandant at Nigerian Defence, General I.M Yusuf
The statement reads in part.
“According to the order of proceeding for the graduation ceremony, 229 students bagged first-class honors, while 1,229 merited the second-class honors ( upper-division) degree. 2,590 graduated with second-class lower division, while 638 students graduated with a third-class category. 44 students finished with a Pass grade, and 196 fell under the unclassified category.”
“The Faculty of technology has the highest number of first-class students, with 47 first-class students, followed by 35 first-class students in the Faculty of Science.”
“Other faculties which produced first-class graduands include; Economics and Management Science, with 4 first-class holders, and Renewable Natural Resources with 8 first-class holders.”
“Affiliated Institutions with 40 first-class holders, Education produced 17 first-class holders, Social Sciences had 2 first-class holders, Agriculture produced 23; Physiotherapy welcomed 4 first-class holders.”
“Nursing had 6 first-class holders, Human Nutrition had 1 first-class holder and the Faculty of Arts produced 21 first-class holders. The University of Ibadan Distance learning center recorded 3 first-class students.”
“Moreover, the Faculty of Law has 18 students in the first class category, 91 students with a 2:1. 43 with a 2:2, 1 student in the third class category, and 5 in the pass category.”
In addition, the statement also noted that one Ogbewe Godswill Osaruese emerged as the best graduating student of the Faculty of Law for the set.
The University of Ibadan convocation ceremony is happening exactly a month after ASUU and the Federal Government shelved their swords from the long-standing academic issues bedeviling the nation.
