Suspended Emefiele Arrested in Lagos, Flown to Abuja for Questioning
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele has finally been brought in for questioning; the Department of State Services (DSS) declared.
This development came after news of Emefiele’s supposed arrest flooded the internet and the DSS spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunanya debunked the news saying Emefiele was yet to be in their custody.
The Pendulum Media, however, gathered that Emefiele was arrested in Lagos and flown to Abuja on Saturday for questioning.
A video, which has now gone viral showed the moment he alighted from a Hilux car and was escorted by security men particularly one with a pair of handcuffs to a waiting jet.
Meanwhile, in a statement at about 2:18 pm on Saturday, the DSS spokesperson confirmed that the suspended CBN governor was now in their custody in Abuja for some investigative reasons.
Part of the DSS statement reads, “The Department of State Services (DSS), hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
“The public, particularly the media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”
