SOKAPU Calls For Release Of Kidnapped District Head, Five Others In Southern Kaduna

The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU) has called for a quick release of the District Head of Garu Kurama and six other members of the Gurzan Kurama community in Kauru Local Government area of Kaduna State on Friday night; describing the incident as unfortunate.

Josiah Yusuf Abraks, the Forum’s Public Relations Officer condemned the abduction in a statement and gave the names of those abducted as Yakubu Jadi (District Head), Iliya Yakubu, Nehemiah Tanko, Thomas Tanko, Yakubu Jadi’s daughter and the Catholic Catechist of the community.

According to the statement, “SOKAPU is calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to put in their very best of endeavour to ensure the quick and safe release of the district head Mr. Yakubu Jadi and those five others.”

It also added that government at all levels should do more in the protection of lives and properties.

The Forum equally called on communities to be more vigilant and watch out for unusual faces and movements in their environs, advising that they should report such to appropriate authorities.
