Seyi Makinde Gifts Apata Fire Victims #10m as Relief

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has sympathized with the Ibadan Fire victims by gifting a sum of #10m to them.

On Thursday, there was an explosion of a petrol tanker that rocked the Apata area of Ibadan leading to the massive destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

However, the state governor, Makinde on Tuesday during his sympathy visit to the traders who lost their property through the incident announced the immediate release of N10m to them.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, Makinde said the palliative would provide immediate succor to the victims.

“This is unfortunate, but as a government of the people, we will do everything within our power to ensure that we provide relief for them.

“I have just asked that an immediate relief of N10m be given to them at least to have something for this holiday while we look at the list and extent of the losses here, ” he said.

The statement also reveals that other top government officials were also reported to have accompanied the Oyo Governor to inspect the scene of the incident.
