Rivers: Police in Fierce Gun Battle with Suspected Cultists, Kill Four

Rivers State Police Command has announced the death of four suspected notorious cultists after a fierce gun battle.

According to the Police, the suspected terrorists had been terrorising Rundele Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Speaking on Friday, during a parade of the suspects at the state police command in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka Polycarp, revealed that the suspects, Chinumezie popularly called NIGGER-ROW, CHISA ORJI, OKONA OKWU and one other yet to be identified are suspected members of a cult group killed four members of a local vigilante group few days ago in Rundele Community.

The Police Commissioner explained that the cultists engaged the police officers in a gun battle after they saw that the uniform men were being assisted by members of a local vigilante group leading to the death of the four cultists.

CP Nwonyi, however, stressed that the command under his watch would do everything possible to ensure security of lives and property of Rivers people.

The dead bodies of those killed during the operation, two pump action guns, one locally-made gun and empty catridges of AK-47 were all recovered and displayed before journalists.
