Ramadan Fasting Begins Monday- Sultan of Sokoto Announces
Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced the commencement of Ramadan in Nigeria.
The announcement is followed by the Sultan’s confirmation of the sighting of the moon which commences the Ramadan season.
As disclosed in a post on X, “The Sultanate has confirmed a single sighting claim and His Eminence the Sultan will soon make an announcement. Ramadan Mubarak.” It reads.
This is coming when Saudi Arabia announced the sighting of the crescent moon signifying the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan.
The moon was spotted on Sunday evening.
This means March 10 is the last day of the month of Sha’ban and the holy month will begin on Monday, March 11.
Ramadan is determined by the lunar Islamic calendar in which months span either 29 or 30 days, commences, and concludes based on the sighting of the crescent moon.
