Protest: Embrace Dialogue- OYHASC Chairman Tasks Angry Oyo Workers
The chairman of the Oyo state House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt Hon Abdulwasi Musah, PhD has urged the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter (PASAN), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other unions to reconsider their decisions on the ongoing protest and embrace dialogue.
Musah in a statement made available to journalists on Friday mentioned that Governor Seyi Makinde is the most friendly governor to workers in the history of the state, hence they should embrace dialogue.
In his reaction, the former Deputy Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly while commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his magnanimity, said the legislative staff has enjoyed continuous training and retraining and prompt payment of salary.
His words,“I want to use this opportunity to urge the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter (PASAN) and by extension other Labour unions in Oyo state to reconsider their decision on the ongoing protest and strike.
“In the history of Oyo state, we have never had a governor that is worker-friendly as Governor Seyi Makinde. He has been so magnanimous with workers in the state.
“Governor Seyi Makinde recently approved Legislative Staff Salary Structure (CONLESS). He also released 200 promotion letters for 2021 promotions and had approved backlogs of 2017-2022 promotions.
“Legislative staff have been collecting their robe allowances uninterruptedly since the beginning of the Seyi Makinde-led administration.
He concluded by urging the legislative staff and other labour unions to embrace dialogue to find lasting solutions to the ongoing protest and strike.
“These are some of the things legislative staff have been enjoying. So I want to urge them and other labour unions to embrace dialogue as announced by the state government to find solutions.”
