PDP CONDUCTS GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES, SEYI MAKINDE EMERGES

The ruling party in Oyo state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), today, 25th May 2022 held their gubernatorial primary election against the general elections coming up in 2023, at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex at Adamasingba, Ibadan.

OYO PDP PRIMARIES AT LEKAN SALAMI STADIUM, IBADAN

A total of 1048 delegates were accredited for the election out of 1086 delegates. The incumbent Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde contested and won a landslide victory, clinching the party’s ticket with a total of 1040 votes. Hon. Hazeem Gbolarunmi, the only opponent garnered 2 votes in the election, while a total of 6 votes were declared invalid.

Our correspondent, David Olayiwola reports that the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde in his victory speech thanked the delegates of the party for counting him worthy of their votes. He promised to continue to keep up the good work as the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Earlier, Hon. Hazeem Gbolarunmi had declared, openly, his support for the incumbent Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde during his address and ceremoniously still went ahead with the election process.

The Pendulum Media reports that the election was witnessed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke, and the INEC Administrative Secretary, Abiodun Onigate-Amosun.

Various security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, The Nigerian Army, DSS, and Amotekun were at the venue to provide security.
