Oyo Police Parades Suspected Criminals, says Operational Balance Maximized
Oyo Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adebowale Williams has said the
Command has effectively maximized its operational balance through some adopted mechanisms to fish out criminals.
The Commissioner through the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adewale Osifeso stated this on Monday while a set of suspected criminals were paraded.
According to him, the adopted mechanisms which have been effectively maximized to secure lives and property of the citizens in the state include; the full adoption of Robust Community Policing Strategies, Smart Inter-Agency Collaboration, Visibility Policing, Mass Patrolling Strategy, Technology-Driven Policing Strategy and respect for the rights of residents of Oyo state
The police boss added that the consistency in waging war against crime and criminality in Oyo state has resulted in the visible recoveries of firearms through intelligence-led stop and search patrols as well as arrest of armed robbery suspects.
Mr. Williams also mentioned that
the mopping up of criminal elements from the streets through strategic raids and effective deployments is part of the efforts made to clamp down on criminal elements.
Critical infrastructures especially INEC facilities, Telecommunication Base Stations, Banks, Correctional facilities, campaign grounds, schools and public spaces are monitored by the Police and protected from criminal activities
Further, he said all the suspects arrested for various offenses ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, and cultism among others would be charged in court after proper investigations.
While speaking with newsmen, suspects who confessed to the crime levelled against them pleaded for leniency and promised to turn a new leaf if pardoned.
