Oyo Police Commissioner, ACOMORAN Collaborate for Peace and Security
Oyo State Commissioner of Police CP Adebowale Williams and members of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) have collaborated on the need to foster a solid relationship, peace, and security in the state.
The Police Chief met with the leaders and members of ACOMORAN on Wednesday, in Ibadan, stating that the meeting was borne out of the immediate urgency to review the existing relationship, and also to discuss ways to foster a solid relationship between the members of ACOMORAN and the Police.
CP Williams, while speaking with the pressmen after a closed-door meeting, expressed that everyone has a role to play in maintaining peace and orderliness in society.
He said, “The essence of this meeting is for us to have an understanding with the members of ACOMORAN. We are working for the public and we don’t want them to misunderstand us, they are the closest to the community, and as for as security is a concern police are the closest to the community.
“However, we discovered recently that we are starting to have some misunderstanding and the best way for us to resolve it, and that is why we call them to talk and resolve it, and we discussed it which was a good one.”
“Everybody has a role to play, from the police to the okada riders. So when you see that there’s someone who is spoiling the image of your association, you should report it to us. There should be cooperation and peace between us, that’s why we ordered that the DPOs should have relationships with ACOMORAN leaders in their community.” he added.
Responding to the outcome of the meeting, Comrade Solomon Olugbode, the Oyo state chairman of ACOMORAN, said that they are delighted with the meeting with the Oyo state police command.
He added that the purpose of the meeting was for peace and how it can be achieved
He said: “We have discussed a lot of things. We made our members know that there are no rewards for hooliganism. We stood against violence in our association and we also appealed to the state command to work hand in hand with us.”
