Oyo NOA To Residents: Scooping Fuel From Fallen Tanker Can Be Deadly
The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Oyo State Directorate, has cautioned Nigerians of the effect of scooping fuel from fallen tankers.
The State Director, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan stressed that fuel is inflammable which could lead to fire outbreaks, explosions, environmental pollution, as well as loss of lives and properties.
Dr. Afolayan, pointed out that emergency responders are trained to deal with such situations safely and efficiently whenever a tanker falls; urging citizens to prioritize safety.
She said: “When a tanker falls, leave the vicinity immediately and notify relevant authorities to handle the incident professionally.
“Let’s not interfere with their work. Instead, wait patiently for them to clear the tanker safely.”
Citizens were asked to learn from past tragic occurrences and prioritize safety over immediate gains.
