The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo state has issued a directive to men of the command, including area and divisional officers to commence a 24hrs surveillance of INEC facilities in the state.
Mr. Michael Adaralewa, who is the Oyo state (NSCDC) commandant revealed in a chat with our correspondent that the surveillance is geared toward the corps’ preparedness for the 2023 general election.
Further, he disclosed that the NSCDC is in collaboration with other security agencies in Oyo state and would leave no stone unturned to ensure the forthcoming general election is violence-free.
Mr. Adaralewa while hinting that the command was embarking on training its men on electoral guidelines, fundamental human rights, professionalism as well as safety of the officers during elections; also warned parents and guardians not to allow their wards to be used as political thugs or agents of destruction before, during, and after the forthcoming polls.
The NSCDC commandant stated that enough security personnel would be deployed for the election to provide adequate security of lives and property, noting that NSCDC men would be seen at every interval on major roads during the election.
“Men of the NSCDC would be positioned at every given distance from polling boot”. He said
He however appealed to residents of Oyo state to come out en masse during elections and cast their votes without fear or molestation.
