Oyo Govt Seeks Partnership With National Museum on Tourism

It has the power to change people’s mindsets, especially during this period when Nigerian culture needs to be salvaged.

The Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun on Friday revealed the need for an expanded partnership between the state and
the National Museum of Unity, Ibadan

According to him, the essence of the partnership would promote tourism and sustain cultural heritage.

In a meeting with the new Curator, of the National Museum of Unity, Mrs. Oriyomi Pamel Otuka, he said the State government has done its best in creating partnerships with relevant bodies, to help sustain awareness of the Yoruba heritage

It is important the Ministry work with the National Museum to retrieve artifacts that were taken from the state, Mrs. Oriyomi continued, it would also attract investors to the State.

“If the artifacts are well managed, it will help increase our Tourism potential and it will be a good source of revenue generation for the State”, he said.

The Curator, of the National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, Mrs. Oriyomi Pamel Otuka, also urged Nigerians to visit the museum to foster peace in the country.

The Museum asides fostering Nigeria’s diverse culture, Mrs. Oriyomi pointed out that also has the power to change people’s mindset, especially during this period when Nigerian culture needs to be salvaged.

In another development, the Oyo State Government promises to invest hugely in tourism, adding that revenue accrued from it would be used to enhance other infrastructures in the state.

This assertion was made by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Oyesola Oyedele during a visit of the Body of Permanent Secretaries in the State to the Tourists’ Site.

The Body of Permanent Secretaries visited Ikere Gorge Dam, located at Iseyin in Iseyin local government area, and Kunle Afolayan’s Film Village at Komu in Itesiwaju local government.
