Osinbajo, to Lead Election Observers in Sierra Leone Scheduled for June 23, 2023
Former Vice-President of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo is set to arrive in Sierra Leone today, Saturday, to lead a 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) for the country’s elections.
According to the constituted body, the Commonwealth, Osinbajo’s COG is made up of 12 distinguished members from more than 10 different countries across the Commonwealth, with international expertise in law, politics, election administration, human rights, media, gender, and diplomacy
Shortly after his 8-year tenure as Nigeria’s Vice-President under President Buhari’s administration, Osinbajo, the professor of law had accepted the offer of the Commonwealth to lead the Observer Group constituted by its Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, to observe the general elections in Sierra Leone.
Osinbajo’s media adviser, Laolu Akande in a tweet stated that the former Vice President will be in Sierra Leone for the rest of the month.
He wrote: “Immediate past VP Osinbajo heads to Sierra Leone today as Chair of 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group for the country’s elections. He” ll address Press Conf. on Monday & be in the country for the rest of the month. Later, the Osinbajo- COG will report on the election’s credibility.”
