An information technology expert, Oluwaseun Onigbinde has asserted in an Entrepreneurship Summit tagged “Corporate/Entrepreneurship Strategies: Exploring Different Opportunities” that, “The current global situation can be an opportunity for Nigeria to become the Export Hub of the world.”
To achieve this, therefore, Governments at all levels, entrepreneurs, as well as, relevant stakeholders must begin to look inward and take advantage of the various conflicts among prominent exporting countries in the world.
In the summit organized by Junior Chambers International, (JCI) held at Premier Hotel, Ibadan; Onigbinde maintained that Nigeria should begin to fashion out ways of solving the Export deficits created by current global challenges, especially the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
We are in a time where there is a geopolitical battle, it might not be fully front already, but there’s a bit of tension in the air with what we see between Russia and Ukraine or what we see between China and the US…We are moving towards a very very challenging time. As those places are becoming in trouble, and they are also doing it towards themselves, we have an opportunity to become the safety valve, we have an opportunity to become the Export Hub in the world.” He said.
Aside from being an IT expert, Onigbinde who also doubles as a founder of BudgIT advised the government at all levels to come up with policies capable of bringing value creators to the country, which in turn would boost the nation’s economy. He challenged Nigerian Entrepreneurs to always have a global outlook in whatever business they venture into.
Also, speaking at the summit, the President, of JCI Ibadan, Ambassador Olawale Agbomeji explained that the summit was part of the organization’s commitment to adding value to its members.
Our organization is an elitist organization, we have so many members who are into corporate and entrepreneurship businesses and platforms, and this year, we have strategically recruited professionals… doctors, lawyers, businessmen, lecturers and we felt how can we add value to them.
He said, that was one of the areas we looked at; if we have this quality of membership, then we should also have the quality of programs that can align with their goals”.
Ambassador Agbomeji hinted that JCI Ibadan would be hosting the 2022 National Convention of the organization in October, which he said would be a history-making event.
The last time we had the National Convention come to JCI Ibadan was over 20 years ago, so it’s a privilege for us this year to be hosting the National Convention and there is a lot of history that is going to be made by JCI Ibadan hosting the National Convention this year. For example, the National President of JCI in Nigeria is from JCI Ibadan. It’s also an honor for me as a sitting President to be hosting the National Convention. We intend to do it differently. What we are planning to do is an International standard National Convention. We are expecting close to 1,200 members in Ibadan
Agbomeji added that JCI Ibadan would on Monday, 8th August 2022, commence a mentorship camp for Secondary School Prefects in Oyo state. He said the students would be empowered with various skills by experienced facilitators for one week.
