NIDCom Rescues Two More Girls Trafficked To Ghana
Two Nigerian girls trafficked to Ghana for prostitution have been rescued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCom.
The additional rescue was highlighted in a statement issued by the commission’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
Just lastweek, the commission had rescued 11 Nigerian girls who were trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.
NIDCom Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the two girls whose rescue operation was facilitated by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Ghana, under the leadership of the Chairman, BOT, Chief Calistus, are currently in safe custody.
Abike further stressed her call for concerted efforts in combating human trafficking in all ramifications as it is another form of modern-day slavery.
According to Dabiri-Erewa, one of the two girls is from Edo State while the other is from Lagos but both of them reside in Lagos State.
She also mentioned that arrangements will be made to get them back to Nigeria and hand over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
