My Career Path as an Interviewer isa Calling- Chude Jideonwo Recalls Humble Beginnings
Nigerian TV host and social media interviewer Chude Jideonwo has recalled how he began his chosen career as an interviewer.
Jideonwo gave incidents that led him gradually to pick up the art of interviewing as one that started without cameras.
Speaking on his program, “WithChude”, Jideonwo reminisced
how for many years, before he started his show in 2020 entertained young people who frequently visited his house to unburden their different challenges, hence referring to it as a calling.
“Nothing gives me joy than to hear people’s stories, and give them advice on how to move a bit forward”.
Chude whose show always had his guests tear up during heart-to-heart conversations advised both his listeners and viewers to avoid every form of distraction which especially in Nigeria, could come in the form of poverty but rather remain focused and ensure they fulfill their dreams or calling.
He also remembered some people he had interviewed in the past such as Nigerian novelist, Chimamanda Adichie, whom he described as a “celebrated sister”, Dare Art Alade, and his editor (Muhtar Bakare) who told him he is one of the best interviewers, he has ever seen.
Chude said, “I started interviewing people 20 years ago, when I interviewed Chimamanda Adichie, who is now a celebrated sister, then Dare Art Alade, then my editor (Muhtar Bakare) said to me then, I am one of the best interviews he’s ever seen, but I didn’t believe him because I taught then he was only trying to encourage me”
While talking about his work at the Nigerian Television Authorities, NTA, he noted he started interviewing people 20 years ago and at the age of 15.
Jidenowo has interviewed many people from the Nigerian entertainment industry who seized the opportunity to speak and finally come to terms with their concealed fears and problems.
