The resolution made today in the courtroom in Ekiti favored
Biodun Oyebanji of the APC as the valid Governor of the state against his rival contender, Segun Oni of the SDP has brewed mixed reactions.
In a reaction, Ekiti State Governor Biodun oyebanji affirmed that the tribunal judgment confirmed that his nomination by APC and election were devoid of error and manipulation.
Governor Oyebanji who described the former Governor, Chief Segun Oni as a respectable leader, seeks his hands in his administration to develop the state.
Moreover, the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye in her reaction affirmed that the judgment had further attested to the fact the APC won convincingly in the last Governorship election.
Describing the Tribunal as timely, Chief Jide Awe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters and inter-party affairs, said, Awe said the verdict has further eased the confidence of people in democracy.
In contrast to the above remarks, it seemed the former Governor, Chief Segun Oni is not satisfied with the verdict and is not ready to accept defeat. Speaking through a Chieftain of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) Mr.Owoseeni Ajayi said the judgment was a charade and could not stand the test of time.
For another member of SDP in the state, Chief Dele Alayode still maintained that the incumbent Governor was not validly nominated by APC to context during the June 18 Governorship poll.
Contributing, political scientist Professor Ademola Adifase believed that democracy was gradually evolving in Nigeria but cautioned parties to always avoid litigations after the election
Amidst these reactions, the Pendulum Media gathered that members and supporters of the ruling APC were seen jubilating outside the court premises shortly after the verdict was announced and a similar joyful attitude was witnessed at the Governor’s office to celebrate Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s victory at the tribunal.
