Malaysia: 122,000 People Evacuate Homes Over Flooding
The National Disaster Management Agency in Malaysia has given an account of the devastating effect of a recent flood which occurred on Saturday in the northern states of the country.
According to the Officials report, more than 122,000 people were made to evacuate their homes as rain continues to pour relentlessly.
Comparing the effect of the current ceaseless rains with the 2014 flooding crisis, it was observed that the number of individuals being displaced in 2024 has surpassed that of 2014.
So far, four people across Kelantan, Terengganu, and Sarawak have been reported dead with Kelantan State been the worst affected.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Hamidi, who heads the National Disaster Management Committee, emphasised that emergency efforts are ongoing, with thousands of personnel working to support flood-prone areas.
