Makinde’s Wife, Olufunke Prepares to Train 990 Oyo Girls on Menstrual Hygiene

The First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde is ready to train 990 girls on menstrual health and hygiene matters on Wednesday.
The governor’s wife who is known for hanging out with girls in the state twice a year since 2020 in commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day as well as the International Day of the Girl Child which holds on October 11, will host the event tagged ‘A Day out with the Girls of Oyo State,’ at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The programme which is planned
to commemorate the Menstrual Hygiene Day held on May 28 will have in attendance 10 students drawn from three schools in each of the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
Also Ninety-nine teachers from the participating schools are also expected to be in attendance at the event.
According to a statement from the office of the Wife of the Governor, the event is designed as a day for Her Excellency to hang out with the girls and enlighten them on menstrual hygiene matters.
It also stated that the girls will be trained by facilitators on menstrual hygiene and everything about their menstrual health.
The statement added that there will be an avenue for questions and answers while the girls in attendance will be given souvenirs and menstrual hygiene products.
Officials of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, including the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and Deputy Directors, as well as officials of the Ministries of Women Affairs, Health, and Education in Oyo State, are expected to grace the event.
