Lawmaker, Akande-Sadipe Mourns Passing Of Olubadan Of Ibadanland

The Member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairperson, House Committee on Humanitarian Services, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, and the people of Ibadanland over the passing of the revered monarch, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

Oba Olakulehin peacefully joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

In a condolence message issued through her media office, Hon. Akande-Sadipe described the late monarch as “a custodian of culture, a leader of peace, and a symbol of royal grace and dignity.”

“Kabiyesi’s legacy of calm leadership and unity during his brief but impactful reign will forever be etched in the annals of Ibadan’s rich history. He led with dignity and earned the love and respect of his people,” she said.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe acknowledged the profound contributions of the late Olubadan to the cultural stability and identity of Ibadanland and praised his dedication to peace, dialogue, and progress in traditional governance.

“His passage is a significant moment for all of us. While we grieve, we are also grateful for the wisdom, counsel, and leadership he shared with us. His memory will continue to inspire our work and commitment to community service,” she added.

She further extended her condolences to the Olakulehin royal family, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), and the entire Ibadanland, praying for peace and strength for all who mourn his passing.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe reaffirmed her continued support for the traditional institution and pledged to uphold the values and legacy of unity and progress that Oba Olakulehin embodied.
