Kwara HoA Passes Harmonised Taxes, Levies Bill Into Law

On Tuesday, the Kwara State House of Assembly passed the Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025 into law.

Earlier, the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Fatimoh Arinola Lawal during a plenary session had considered and adopted of the report.

The passage of the bill was a landmark legislation aimed at strengthening revenue administration and ensuring uniformity in tax collection across the state.

The lawmakers affirmed that the report presented truly reflected the deliberations and resolutions reached at the committee stage.

Following the adoption of the report, the Speaker of the House, Engr Yakub Danladi – Salihu, directed the Clerk to read the bill for the third time in accordance with Order 11, Rule 73 , Sub section 1 of the House Standing Rules.

The Harmonised Taxes and Levies (Approval for Collection) Bill, 2025, was thereafter read the third time and duly passed into law.

A clean copy is to be prepared by the Clerk of the House in order for the state governor to give assent.
