JUST IN: UK Deputy Prime Minister Resigns, Gives Reasons
The United Kingdom deputy prime minister Dominic Raab resigned on Friday in less than 24 hours after a report was submitted into bullying allegations.
Dominic Raab, in his resignation statement, published on Twitter, said, “In setting the threshold for bullying so low, this inquiry has set a dangerous precedent.
Raab who also quit as justice secretary, stated in a resignation letter that he felt “duty bound to accept the outcome of the inquiry” but said it “dismissed all but two of the claims levelled against me”.
“It will encourage spurious complaint ministers, and have a chilling effect on those driving change on behalf of your government – and ultimately the British people.”
Raab’s resignation means a third senior minister has departed over their personal conduct since Sunak entered Downing Street in October promising a government of integrity.
