JUST-IN: Five People Dead in Ondo Road Accident
Five persons on Sunday afternoon were confirmed dead in a ghastly road accident at Ikare Akoko, Akoko Northwest Local Government area of Ondo State.
The crash, according to an eyewitness involved a commercial 18-seater passenger bus with registration number DKA 256 XY whose tyre burst on top speed at a junction leading to Ajowa Akoko and Akunu Akoko.
The eyewitness who claimed anonymity said the accident claimed five lives with other passengers sustaining various degrees of injuries.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ikare Unit, the Police, and sympathizers were involved in the rescue effort.
While confirming the incident, Commander of FRSC, Ikare Akoko, Mr. Oluropo Alabi, disclosed that he was not in a position to give an accurate number of victims, adding that the rescue operation was still on at the time of this report.
The injured victims have however been taken to State Specialist Hospital, Ikare Akoko, for urgent medical attention while the bodies of the dead victims were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
