JUST-IN: FG Reopens Third Mainland Bridge To Ease Traffic

Minister of works, David Umahi on Thursday directed Olukorede Kesha, the federal controller of works in Lagos, to open the third Mainland bridge.

This is following its closure after weeks of repair on different sections which disrupted full vehicular movement.

Umahi stated that the federal government has commenced the second phase of rehabilitation work which involves the underwater damage to the bridge.

A statement, published on the ministry’s website, reads, “Minister of Works, His Excellency, Senator David Nweze Umahi, in a phone call in the early hours of today, directed the controller of works, Lagos State, Engr Mrs O.I.Kesha to open the bridge to traffic in order to ease the stress which motorist have been subjected to, during the period of the first phase of rehabilitation works on the bridge,”.

Moreover, the Lagos commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, also announced the opening of the bridge in a statement on X.


Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Wednesday stressed the need for motorists to drive with caution while on the bridge.
