JUST-IN: Court Grants Ex-CBN Governor, Emefiele Permission to Travel Out of Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory High Court has given a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele permission to move outside the capital city, Abuja.
This permission was given after listening to the application for variation of the terms of Emefiele’s bail filed through his lawyer, Mathew Bukka.
However, the court made a stand on him remaining in Nigeria as the embattled governor is not allowed to leave the country.
The court ordered that Emefiele should be immediately released to his lawyers.
Emefiele’s lawyers were then charged with the responsibility to always produce him in court for his arraignment.
It ordered Emefiele to deposit his passport and other travel documents before the registrar of the court, pending his arraignment.
The amended charges against Emefiele now include criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, procurement fraud, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
