JUST-IN: Appeal Court Declares Zamfara Gubernatorial Election Inconclusive, Sacks Governor

The Governorship polls that produced Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal have been nullified by
a Court of Appeal in Abuja.

Dauda Lawal was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Not satisfied with the outcome of the polls, Bello Matawalle of the All Progressives Congress (APC), however, challenged the victory of Lawal, who ran under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Matawalle proceeded to the Appeal Court after the tribunal had upheld Lawal’s election.

In a unanimous decision on Thursday, a three-member panel led by Justice Oyebisi Folayemi annulled the victory of Lawal and ordered a rerun of the election in three local government areas.

Maradun, Birnin Magaji and Bukuyun are the three affected Local Government Areas.
