JUST-IN: AFN Excludes Amusan, Lists Ese Brume, Others for World Championship

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria’s (AFN) has excluded the suspended World 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, from participating in the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In a list released by the athletics body on Tuesday, 20 athletes excluding Tobi Amusan will run from August 19 to 27 for the Budapest championships.

Recall that the AIU in a statement via Twitter last month, sanctioned Amusan for allegedly missing drug tests saying she was suspended for three whereabouts failures.

However, Ese Brume, George Patience Okon, Success Umukoro, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Ruth Usoro dominated the Nigeria’s list for women with Deborah Oke, Imaobong Uko, Nse Uko and Pamela Amaechi following.

While Nigerian male athletes like Itshekiri Usheoritshe, Ashe Favour, Seye Ogunlewe, Alaba Akintola, Fakorede Adekalu, Karlington Anunagba, and Enekwechi Chukwuebuka (Shot Put) were listed for the competition.
