Jigawa: Suspected Criminals Attack Watchmen, Loot Water Facility
Armed robbers have reportedly beaten up some security men and looted a water scheme in the Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Confirming the incident on Monday, Ibrahim Garba, Commissioner for Water Resources, during a visit to the station said the criminals beat up the security men and stole more than N20 million properties from the water plant last Friday.
Garba expressed concern over the situation and said the government will take strict action against saboteurs for its efforts to provide potable drinking water to the people of the state.
“This is sad. The government is doing its best to provide portable and clean water to the populace and at the same time some criminals are sabotaging the effort.
“This is the first time the incident happened here since its creation over 50 years ago.
“This also happened in Kazaure where about 20 bore wells were destroyed, wires were dug up and taken away, It also happened in Babura, Gumel, and Dutse and it happened here,” he said.
He, however, noted that security agencies are working hard to ensure a prompt arrest of the vandals.
