It Was ‘Dobale’- President Tinubu Makes Light Of His Democracy Day’s Fall

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed-Tinubu has commented on his video that went viral on democracy day which featured his terrible fall at Eagle Square on Wednesday, saying it was ‘dobale’.

Dobale, a Yoruba term for prostration is done as a form greeting or showing respect to elders.

Reacting to the incident, Tinubu
during the Democracy Day dinner night at the Presidential Villa, said,
he did not slip and stumble to the ground as many might have interpreted it, but did what every traditional Yoruba ‘boy’ would do on such occasion, ‘dobale.’

“Early this morning, I had a swagger and it’s on social media. They’re confused whether I was doing bugger or babariga.

“But it is day to celebrate democracy, why doing dobale on the day? I’m a traditionally Yoruba boy. I did my dobale.” He said

Recall, The Pendulum Media reports that Tinubu’s presidential aide on social media, Dada Olusegun, interpreted Tinubu’s fall as a ‘ mild missstep’ and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, also commented in a series of tweets that anyone can fall and that people should stay focus on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria.
